What goes around comes around. Admittedly, this adage is not as inspiring as Kekul's dream of the structure of the benzene ring. But why should scientists not draw inspiration from the round dance of atoms and molecules? Even if we no longer subscribe to the alchemists belief that any material can be transformed into any other, there may yet be a philosophers' stone waiting to be discovered.
As producers of the world's widest range of technically available cyclic C8 and C12 building blocks, we offer you the raw materials that will allow you to realize your research goals. In fact some possible "transformations" have already become reality.
- Various polyamides can be produced from the C12 components via a number of synthetic steps. They find application as high-quality construction materials (VESTAMID®, TROGAMID®) or are added as a fine powder to paints, to improve structure (VESTOSINT®).
- Polymerization of the C8 ring cyclooctene yields the trans-polyoctenamer, which facilitates the processing of rubber.
- The C12 rings as well as dodecanedioic acid and cyclooctene serve for production of a variety of woody and musky perfumes.
- Cyclododecatriene and vinylcyclohexene are used to produce brominated flame retardants.
- Cyclododecatriene is the most important starting material for cyclic and linear compounds with 12 or more carbon atoms. Vinylcyclohexene also serves as a valuable starting material for synthesis of specialty chemicals. Our researchers would be happy to help you with your ideas on synthesis.
All for the creation of molecules. Talk to us. Together our ideas will come full circle.
